Wow, now Edublogs.org is giving us discussion forums. Where does the madness end? If you'd like to start your own topic (revolutionary for a BLOG), then go at it! General chit chat welcomed too!

Woah - ok that's cool. Wordpress.com doesn't have this, or at least I don't think it does. That's one but advantage of edublogs it seems.

Cheers,

Mike

Okay my question is how do you think that a forum on your blog will work differently from posts? What is the benefits to an educator to use a forum compared to using posts? Do you think that it will change the way people comment on your posts?

LOL I believe that is several questions.

Will using a forum on your blog break it the same way that adding the google chat badge does? If so, please take this down IMMEDIATELY! Just kidding, of course :-) Love watching you explore the forum so I can learn from your mistakes, teehee!

Dear Sue, A forum allows rogue stragglers to enter at will and take control of a topic and initiate a dialog of THEIR choosing, not necessarily mine. I believe that surrendering control of my blog is a pretty stupid thing to do; so that sounded good to me.

Who chose the topic of forum vs blog post? Me or you? There's your answer.

But I am really glad that you have approached this personal problem that you've been dealing with under the this convenient mask. It is obvious that you are struggling with some internal conflict that is pulling you apart, the "blog" and the "forum" serve as "safe" substitutes to name your pain.

So, my advice to you today is to let your "blog" and your "forum" integrate as one. Be 100% of every difference that you are. Don't marginalize your "blog" at the expense of your "forum." You can have (be) BOTH ... and you deserve it.

P.S. I think your recent "dirty talk" on twitter is evidence of your struggle. INTEGRATE AND CELEBRATE!

Next?

P.S. Please start a new question by clicking "New" as I am not sure that Mike wants to be in the same discussion thread with someone with a small _____!

Dear Kate (I know that is not your real name and that is OK for now),

I believe the forum that I am now using did indeed bring edublogs down for almost a day. I do feel quite a bit of guilt and shame. But, I was lured into it by trying to get 1 up on your gtalk widget.

I am interested in knowing more about your giggly eyes. That sounds interesting. Can you give me some more details as to when you have these eye twittering events so that I can best counsel you? My guess is that the source is a frozen need that you have yet to resolve. It is important that you understand that I am not Uncle Bob. I am Frank. Take a deep breath. Remember, I am here to help you. That is the purpose of this "Ask Frank" forum.

Please share you most intimate secrets and fears here. I assure you that only you and I can read these confidential posts.

Next?

Actually I am under the impression that Mike really likes my ..... talk in twitter since he started following me in twitter after I mentioned my small ......!

Now me being me I just can't have a forum until we sort out the small matter of RSS feed for the forum. So where is it?

@dswaters - Hey now I was completely unaware of that post before following you LOL.

On a completely side not it's really interesting how natural it feels to include "@name" in commenting now. Just goes to show how extensively Twitter usage has infiltrated the way we communicate online - and not just on the application itself.

Cheers,

Mike
